So today Jeff finished the girls new pen, the weather has been gorgeous this weekend so that has helped. Here he is finishing up the roof. We have them totally enclosed so nothing can get them from all angles.
Here it is from this side. You can see the coop fits perfect in there and they can run all the way around it. Jeff took the original door off it so they can go in and out as they want, he also still has that other little small hole that they used to use to go into their side run so they go in and out there too.
Another angle, Jeff put an old saw horse in there if they want to roost on it. He might have to make a ladder to get up to it.
This is a fun picture cause it shows their old side run beside the new one...wow what a difference eh?
Here they are, and I tried to take it through the chicken wire. They are picking on Fiji a bit, but they are just going to have to work it out, at least now there is enough room they can get away from each other. Tonight they are all roosting together so I am hoping all will be well eventually. Jeff is going to run water to the side and put in a leveling water thing so that we don't have to use the plastic water thing. He can have it for the Chuk-lets when he moves them to their pen.
When Jeff is not building chicken yards he is the grill master. He made BBQ ribs for supper. Yum.
Oh and the little chukar that got under the counter...too funny, when Jeff went to open the barn this morning he could hear them making a racket and he was wondering what was going on. That little one that had got loose, had flown up and was pacing back and forth at the brooder trying to help the others escape...ok not really, he was trying to get back in with his syblings, and they were all sqwaking. So after chasing it in the barn and even all the way around the outside of the barn he finally caught it and got it back inside the brooder.
Well this old gal is off to bed. It's after midnight.
The days are ticking down for the current catalog. So if there is anything you are wanting off the retiring list, please let me know right away. You only have until May 31. A bunch of the retiring accessories are running out or are already gone.
Stamp Club was fun today and I think the girls liked their make n takes. It was fun showing them the new pads and telling them how easy they are to ink up the stamps now.
Jeff, Eric and I moved half the Chuk-lets over into the second brooder. I am thinking we should have done that before they could fly. You should have seen us, trying not to lift the lid up too high so they could fly out, some did and we had to wrangle them up. We did lose one as he got behind the counter bench thing, so I am hoping he makes his way out and is ok, Jeff says he will probably die. Well I am looking at the positive side of it, why can't he when it is all quiet walk around and make his way out from the cupboard? Maybe he will figure out how to open the brooders and let all his siblings escape in the middle of the night (so Madagascar-ish) and when Jeff opens up the barn in the morning they will be ready and fly away. Wouldn't that be something. I can hear them now...
...Move It!!
As soon as I saw this hostess set I was in love...I mean you know I love to color. One of the perks of being a Demonstrator (and there are many) is we can pre-order certain things, certain times of the year. So I ordered this hostess set. I copied the card layout from my sweet friend Anna Wight (Hi Anna...hey the coop is almost done...yay!!!)
Stamp Set: Summer Afternoon - earn yours for free by booking your workshop now, or joining one of my stamp clubs.
Paper: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Watercolor paper, Comfort Cafe DSP
I was right too, it was fun to color. I have a 7 page PDF tutorial if you wanna learn how easy it is to color with the ink refills. In fact my new pads were so juicy, just one or two squeezes put enough ink on the inside of the lid to paint.
Oh I had someone email me and say "where's that cute ice cream cone card you did?"
You mean this one?
Here's the link to the tutorial to show how easy it is to make the ice cream scoops.
I am trying to stop using my mouse and only use the finger thing on my lap top, I think that might help the pain I have in my right arm since I think when I use the mouse I am at the wrong angle. Boy that thing is hard to get used to. Is there anyplace online that teaches you how to cut and paste and all that?
I was so happy, look what came today.
My floor card display rack. I had one for my counter, but it didn't hold enough cards and was a pain in the butt when I had to get in the cabinet it was in front of. So I have put the counter one away for when I do events, cause it is perfect for that, but for my studio this is much better. Thank you to my sweet friend Ellie who told me about it. I was surprised how fast it came and it was so easy to put together.
I saw on Facebook today that the soup at The Deli was french onion and well I'm a sucker for their french onion soup so I talked Jeff into going there for supper.
Doesn't it look good? It is.
Jeff and I both ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with steak fries and grilled veggies and gravy. I didn't eat a third of mine...Jeff will have it tomorrow for lunch...I wanted to save a bit of room for this...
...carrot cake. Oops I took a bite before I remembered to take a picture. Come on, you know I can't go there and not get it, I should have been good (since I have put back on all the weight I lost at the beginning of the year) and just had the soup and the cake and skipped the supper. But at least I didn't eat it all. So that is ok...now I don't have to fix Jeff lunch tomorrow...ha!
Oh and when we got to The Deli we saw our favorite waitress Sara and she said it was her last day cause she is moving, and her cutie patootie brother Brandon that worked there too he moved out of the country. Well I am glad we went in so we could say bye. They will really be missed.
I have club tomorrow so it is good Jeff has left overs. In fact look at this cute card they are going to make. I pretty much cased it (changed the ribbon) from my friend and fellow INKredible girl Ilina Crouse. Thanks Ilina!
Stamp Set: Betsy's Blossoms, Fabulous Phrases
Paper: Whisper White, Floral District
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry
Misc: Daffodil Delight Seam Binding
So this was the first time I have really sat down and stamped for real with the new style ink pads, and let me tell you, you are going to love them. I barely had to touch the pad and the ink covered the rubber almost like magic. It will take practice using them as we are so used to tap, tap, tapping to get the image covered in ink, especially the solid ones, but not anymore. It will be fun seeing the club girls try them out tomorrow.
So while I was finishing up stuff I had the TV on to a show called "The Singing Bee" and the blonde girl from Reba was on there as the host. Well let me tell you the people they have singing the songs and then the contestants have to fill in the words, half of them I don't think were even singing in tune. I don't know why they don't just play the real song that would be easier wouldn't it? Isn't that how that "Don't Forget the Lyrics" show did it? Maybe the show just wants to help the economy by hiring singers to do it instead of them just playing the record but in all fairness to the contestants I say, play the record already. I felt sorry for one girl, most of the contestants got fairly recent songs and country (the show is on CMT after all) and she got a Blondie song (Heart of Glass) and missed most of the words.
Well I better hit the hay. Have an awesome Saturday and thanks for stopping in.
I have been getting a bunch of emails asking if I would be doing the new Product Shares again this year and the answer is...Yes!!
Starting June 1, we can order out of the new catalog! I can hardly wait, my wish list grows longer every day!
There are tons of new products I want to share with you, embellishments, ribbons, Designer Series Paper.
I will send out an email with more details (make sure you are on that list - if not you can sign up over in the left hand colomn where it says Sign Up for my Email Newsletter - that is different than the blog feed), but I have to wait for the catalog to go "live".
So make sure you let me know if you are interested, and watch for more information coming soon.
To reach me, you can email me at digibbs@stampingwithdi.com , if the link does not work it is digibbs@stampingwithdi.com
I wanted to show you how big The Chuk-lets are getting, they are two weeks old now.
They sure do like to poop, but I guess when you have 44 of them, there is bound to be some poop. This weekend Jeff and I are going to put half of them in the other brooder to give them more room, that should be interesting since they are starting to fly a bit...cross your fingers half of them don't end up in the yard. One got out today when Jeff was cleaning the cage but he was able to catch it.
When I was coming back from the barn I saw Mr Lizard on the post, his throat was out big but he turned his head when I took the picture.
Reminded me of the one I saw the other day when I came out the back door he went running, he thought he would take a short cut through the chicken coop, he got a little stuck in the the fencing, but Alice was nice and helped him get unstuck...yeah...she ate him. Bet he didn't see that coming.
I have stamp club this weekend and I want the girls to try out some new stuff, so this is one of their make n takes, I cased a card out of the new catalog but I just changed the color and the DSP.
Stamp Set: Layered Labels
Paper: Pool Party, Very Vanilla, Comfort Cafe DSP
Ink: Midnight Muse, Cajun Craze, Pool Party
Misc: Rhinestones, Pool Party Seam Binding, Apothecary Accents Framelits
I love this DSP and you are going to love them all too, makes me love the new In Colors even more.
This is a great time of year to become a Demonstrator because of the new catalog starting. You can join for only $99.00 and you can totally order whatever you want for your kit. What a deal. Plus if you were a Demonstrator before and want to re-join you only have to wait 90 days to join up under another Demonstrator. I would love to have you join my amazing team of Demonstrators, who are all over the US, it's easy and you can do it online through my website. Don't forget about picking a free stamp set as a welcome gift from me for joining my team.
I better get back to cutting paper for this weekend. I have been listening to The Band Perry, wow they are awesome, and they even have the lyrics in their book too. Yay!
Have an awesome Friday and thanks for stopping in.
In fact I had to start over as I put the answer in the blog title...ha!
What an amazing (well most of the time...like the last 3 minutes) show.
Let's start at the beginning shall we?
I loved seeing all the Idols in their white and silver...Jeff said "who is that older woman?" and I was like "that's Erika, remember Tommy made her cut her hair and dye it black?" Nice to see her blond again, but still feel bad they did that to her.
Then I thought Toby stepped on the remote and changed the station to "So You Think You Can Dance" cause all these people were dancing and flipping around when the guys were singing, poor Joshua even tried to do some fancy stuff but they gave him some slippery shoes and I was afraid he was gonna hurt himself.
Then Phillip sang with John Fogerty (who has a nice head of dark hair for his age), and they sang Bathroom on the Right, Bad Moon Rising. It was a great way to start the show.
Then Joshua sang with Fantasia, and OMG!!! this had to be more reason to fire Tommy Hillfiger if he had anything to do with Fantasia's outfit. I love her, but come on people. A woman that size should not be wearing a unitard with slit down sides. She had long long hair but it was not long enough to cover "stuff". I mean that outfit needed to be worn by like a size 2 person.
Then the girls sang and then Chaka Khan came out and she must have thought well heck if Fantasia can wear a unitard, I am wearing one too. At the end of all the singing, Randy stood up and was yelling something, I think it was "put on a skirt!!" Doesn't Tommy Hillfiger sell skirts? How about a long coat?
Then Rhianna sang and at least she had her "stuff" covered up. This is not my kind of music. At the end she yelled "I Love You Idol" and did this sexy thing with her tongue, maybe that was her job interview in case J-Lo decides to quit.
Then Skylar and Reba sang, now this is my kinda music and they had a blast. Reba looks adorable as usual. I loved her sensible heeled boots.
They did this crazy thing with Steven Tyler's Lair or Love Shack and the subtitles on the tv said Steven and his floss, but it was Steven and his sloth...well have you seen Steven's white teeth? Floss might have made more sense and not been so creepy, did you see the nails on that thing?
Then the boys sang again and it was nice to see Colton, Deandrea not so much. Neil Diamond came out and sang with them...didn't he sing last year? I have never seen so many people wiggle their fingers on the mic as this year, I mean they don't even do it to the beat so I don't know why they do it. Then afterwards Ryan made sure to mention Neil was touring. We were wondering where J-Lo was cause she was not in her seat for a while, and I was hoping she was not going to be singing later, hadn't we already listened to her twice this year? Maybe her and Rhianna were duking it out in the back over who was going to be the female judge next year.
Then they teased Randy that he always says people can sing the phone book, so the Idols dressed in church choir robes sang the phone book and it was too funny, at one point Joshua starts really singing and getting down and they all shut up and just watched him, it was good.
Then my worst fears came true, J-Lo was going to sing a couple songs. In some sort of gangster droopy drawer outfit. I picked up my phone and was texting back and forth to Marjori (hey sister!), Jeff went out to turn the heat lamp on the chukars, and I might have even cleaned the bathroom...anything to not have to listen or watch that.
Then they had some marriage proposal from past American Idol people...meanwhile I am thinking couldn't this show be over all ready? Couldn't poor Phillip be having kidney surgery by now? But nope, it continued...
Hollie sang with Jordan sparks, finally a nice duet, and they looked beautiful.
The boys sang a beautiful tribute to Robin Gibb, and boy that Joshua sure can sing, he finished it off nice.
Then Jessica sang with a Jennifer Holliday and I might have nightmares tonight. At first I didn't know if she was lip singing cause noise seemed to be coming when she was not singing. It was a bunch of screeching and weird faces, and it was dueling banjos of the yelling. I thought it was a horrible racket, I was thinking of a thing Granny used to say "if you are singing for me, you can shut up anytime". J-Lo stood up and applauded. I just didn't get it...sorry.
Then it was Steven Tylers turn and Aerosmith performed, I didn't know the first song, but I definitely knew the second one, and it was nice to hear them, but when you are 80 years old you shouldn't wear a shiny bronze shirt cause you could see Steven's rolls.
Then 5 hours later they dimmed the lights and announced the winner and the winner was YEAH!!!! Phillip Phillips, and I cried, and then the Idols came on to hug him and someone said Jessica you got runner up, and I don't know who said it or why. Then Ryan handed Phillip his guitar and he was to sing his song but he only sang a few bars and broke down crying and couldn't go on...then I was bawling, and then he took off his guitar, he gave it to one of the other Idols I think and he went down to his Mum and Dad and hugged them. Such an amazing ending to quite a year of Idol.
Here is the song and I could listen to it all day....
What did YOU think? Are you glad Phillip won? Did you like the show?
This is the original singer of "Home" Greg Holden, singing a different song, wow he is amazing too.
Have an awesome Thursday and thanks for stopping in...even on those days I only blabber...Mwah!!!
If you get my blog post in your email from Feedblitz, make sure that if you need to email me, you use my email address and not the feedblitz address. My email address is: digibbs@stampingwithdi.com (Somehow I can't get a link to work). Patty (Hi Patty) emailed me to tell me that she had been trying to reach me but using the feedblitz one and I don't know where they go. So I am glad she was patient and tracked me down.
I wanted to share another fun swap I got from Meg (Megumi) Holland...thanks Meg! It is so cute, and I love the bling, and the texture, and the framelits...everything.
Cute eh?
OK onward to American Idol....stop reading if you have not seen it...oh and to my Eastcoast readers, please remember I see it three hours later than you do, so please don't email me tomorrow with who wins. Thanks!!
Here's my 2 cents, and I am using two new pennies with that shield on the back that makes me think of Captain America.
The Idols were singing 3 songs, the first one was picked by Simon Fuller, I think he sells brushes...lets hope he can pick good songs. The second song was the Idols choice of one they sang this season, and the third one was the song that Philp the Idol will sing after they win.
They threw a coin to see who goes first and Jessica did.
So she sang a Whitney Houston song and she does have a beautiful voice don't get me wrong when I criticize her, she just stands there and sings and she is so boring, I want movement, I want excitement, I want to be entertained and she just does not do it.
Phillip sang Stand by Me and I love how he makes each song his own, and stays true to himself.
I say Round 1 goes to Phillip...the judges (Randy and J-Lo need to retire) said Jessica was the better.
Next up I was hoping that Jessica would sing a fun song that she could move around the stage and sing...nope she sang another boring slow stand there and sing song. I mean get a chair already.
Phillip sang one of my favorites from this year except that Segar one he knocked out of the ballpark last week, and it was Billy Joel's, Moving Out and he was totally awesome.
I say Phillip won round two, the judges were split...I wish they'd split.
Then the third song was the one they will sing if they win, and Jessica's was basically forgettable, the only thing I remember is she sat on the piano, she had on 10" spiky heeled boots that I kept thinking how can you walk in those, I mean you must basically walk on your toes right? It was boring, and the judges were telling her it was the wrong song blah!blah! Do the Idols pick their last song?
Phillip's song was awesome, it had me tapping my head, the audience standing and clapping, and I would totally buy that song tomorrow. So I voted till I almost wore the battery out of my phone. Phillip has to win.
Oh speaking of buying music I picked up Adam Lambert's new CD today, I only listened to a few songs so far, and I love what I have heard, I love the freaky crazy pictures inside the lyric book, and Adam in case you read my blog...ha!ha!...ok I peed a little...thanks for putting the lyrics in the book, I think it should be a law they do that. It sure helps this old deaf woman I can tell you that.
OK I better get my butt to bed.
Have an awesome Wednesday and thanks for stopping in.
At Leadership this year (if I remember correctly) we got the stamp set Everything Eleanor, and we got it in clear mount. Which if you are new to my blog and new to Stampin' Up! this only means they mount on the acrylic blocks and are repositionable. It is the same rubber that we use for the wood mount, it just has a different foam backing on it, so you can take it on and off. This is awesome if you have space issues for your stamps. Ok back to the story. I am a wood girl, this old dog hates new tricks...well some of them. I love we offer the two styles but I love mounting my stamps once and not having to do it everytime. Plus I teach lots of classes and I find this is easier for me. So anyway, I have to wait to exchange my Everything Eleanor set for a wood mount one because it wasn't a current set...yet. Yay! June 1 it will be. So till then I will look lovingly at this gorgeous card made by the so very talented Mary Ellen Byler. Thanks Mary Ellen.
Gorgeous eh?
So I am typing with my mouse on a piece of chipboard with a mouse pad on it sitting on my lap. My right neck and shoulder are still killing me and I think it is cause my arm is too high up when I am typing, so it feels better if I work the mouse when it is lower. I don't know why I don't move the laptop somewhere else I mean gee I can unplug it...ha!
Did you watch House tonight? Jeff and I used to watch it and I can't remember why we stopped, maybe they changed it to a different night or something. Anyway, I was a little confused when he was seeing people he said were dead cause I didn't know they were dead cause of not watching the show. Then he was seeing people that were not dead...it was fun to see the blond girl from Once Upon a Time back on there. Not sure if she was on there regularily lately or just tonight. I love seeing Sela Ward but oh no did she have her face worked on? I hope not, she was beautiful without it. Anyway I like how it ended. Did you?
So Idol is on Tuesday night so I have to remember to watch it...Phillip better kick some Jessica butt. She can not win.
OK this old gal is off to bed.
Have an awesome Tuesday and thanks for stopping in.

"You totally crack me up girl. I love you, and we have never met." - Wilma
"If I wasn't a demonstrator already, I'd be joining your team. :) Thanks for always sharing your ideas and excitement for SU! My upline quit several years ago, so I've been blessed to have sideline sisters that help and encourage. Convention was a blast... like a bunch of crazy family getting together for a reunion! now I'm going to "go, go, go"... LOL" - Shelly
"I highly recommend this tutorial. I have dabbled with water coloring and didn't think I was too bad at it, but this tutorial has a number of helpful tips in it that immediately helped improve my technique. Even with the low price, I was apprehensive to purchase it because I felt a video was needed. You have managed to do it with a very reasonably-priced PDF. I am sorry I didn't purchase it sooner." - Dorrie
