Life is so hard at times.  My little sister Jacqui lost a friend from school in an accident, and she was just young, Granny will be 93 in April, and she will be the first one to tell you she has lived a long good life, and she too questions why?  Why has she lived so long when many have gone before her and they were so young? I wonder if we will ever know?

Today we got a call from Eric's work and one of his friends, Sean...he was the one we got Fiji from, died in an accident last night.  I am glad they called, it was shocking news to hear and also so we could be prepared for the emotions that Eric might bring home with him, mad, sadness, confusion.

All day I kept looking at the clock cause I wanted to be able to meet Eric at the door.  I knew he probably would be late because Sean was one of the drivers that bring the kids to and from work.  When I heard the van I went out, and a couple of the kids waved, but oh so quiet.  Eric got out of the van and I could tell he had been crying.  I told him how sorry I was and he shrugged his shoulders, he is not one for showing emotions.  This was Eric's first major death.  I mean someone he saw daily and had fun with and considered a friend, that would do anything for him and the kids at work.  We have lost family members, in fact I talked to Poppa and told him if he runs into Sean to thank him for all he did for Eric and being such a good friend to him, and treating him just like a regular guy.  But Eric didn't see Poppa that much, so he knew he had died but I don't think he really truly understood.  Eric seems better tonight, and I am sure when we go to the funeral it will be hard, cause he will see his other friends who will be missing Sean too.  The weird thing is last night I was looking through the catalog and came upon the set "Summer Solstice" and it has a saying in there that reads "How lucky I am to have known someone who was so hard to say goodbye to."  I can imagine that Gina, Sean's wife is thinking this, and I hope she knows how many friends she has and that she can turn to us when she needs us. We'll take care of her and the kids.  R.I.P. Sean

While I was cutting ribbon, I had American Idol on, and I can't believe all the people with the flu and then people hugging and touching them even though they knew they were sick.  Ugh! 

I better get off here, I am still packing up my stuff for my private class tomorrow and hoping I don't forget anything.

Oh, Di.....my thoughts and prayers are with Eric, and his friend's family. It's hard to understand at any age, when somebody we care about is taken, especially suddenly.
Something similar happened to one of my children's friends, and extra hugs were often needed, out of the blue, for quite a while.

I'm sorry Eric had to lose a friend. Tragedy has struck here in my ring of friends recently too and it is so incredibly hard to say goodbye to anyone, especially those that have so much life to live yet. Hoping that Eric does not grieve too deeply, for too long.

I'm so sorry for Jacqui and Eric. When I was 15, a friend of mine died in a car accident. It was my first exposure to death, and it has stayed with me always. Prayers and hugs to all.

Diane, my heart goes out to the family and to you and Eric. I, unfortunately, know too well, the loss of a child. My son was 27 and died in a car accident. The pain and grief was unbearable at times...still is, almost 7 years later. Hope Eric will bounce back quickly. It will be hard for him at times. Keep an open dialog with him and realize that months from now, when he is quiet, it could be he is thinking of his friend. Prayers...

Di, I am so sorry for Eric's loss of a friend. I'll be praying for him to be understanding and strong through this difficult time in his life. I know it's hard, but tell him laughter is the best medicine..remember all those crazy, fun times and laugh.

I was thinking about you guys all night last night wondering how Eric is doing, and you guys of course. Use whatever resources you have to help him get through this. He might not show the full extent of his feelings until a later date either. Give him big hugs from Aunt Jacqui and please tell him how sorry I am that his friend passed away. It's hard enough in this old world to make a true and honest friend so it is exceptionally hard when one of our friends passes away. Luv you all, Jax
