So today I met Jeff at Home Depot to pick up sand for the pen to move Alice and the chicks into, he had picked up some last week but he got the wrong kind, I need play sand which is safer and not have any chemicals on it. I wanted to look at plants to put in the coop as well, but after looking he said I should go to a nursery instead.
I went to the nursery by our house (didn't even think about it) and the guys there were a bit more helpful I had looked up plants that were ok to go in the coop, that were not poisonous, of course they didn't have them. They did have a Firecracker Bush (hamelia paten) and a Heavenly Cloud Sage (leucophyllum) and they said they would be ok. I looked all over the internet and as far as I can tell these are fine to be planted and not poisonous. I was back and forth do I plant them inside or outside and I think I want them inside so the girls can lay around them. I hope they don't eat much of them, I always have plenty of food for them, so I think it will be ok. I just need to really water them right now with the summer heat, probably crazy planting them now, but I think they will be fine as long as they get lots of water.
The whole time I was in there Alice and the chicks kept watching. Just doing some remodeling while she is gone.
Oh and the other day when Rhonda and I drove home after the storm we saw this on the side of the road and I kept wanting to stop to take a picture of it, today I remembered.
Oh and I ordered a couple things from one of my favorite blogs Fresh Eggs Daily, and they came today and one of them is a solar red blinking light which is to warn off predators, so I put it up. I hope it works. Since I was one of the first hundred to order I got a free chicken decal, and look what I did with it.
Well this old broad is off to bed.
Have a blessed Sunday and thanks for stopping in.
