Hope that is ok.
Thought I'd break away to update you on the chicks. They are around a week old now, and growing so quickly, it is amazing how they change daily. More feathers, and definitely how they get around. Also Alice sure protects them and has them staying away from me. When I open the pen they go all the way to the back. Today I fixed their water and that makes them come closer, so I picked up one of the little black guys. I keep calling the little black ones boys, and the yellow ones girls, I don't know why. Am hoping they are all girls but I wouldn't mind a rooster for the yard, not the chicken yard, but the yard for bug hunting. So anyway when I grabbed the little guy Alice was none too happy and she sqwacked at me and pecked at me. Jeff took a couple pictures.
Didn't know he took this one, this is me thinking how the heck am I gonna get one?
So cute, I haven't named any of the black ones yet cause they are harder to tell apart, I figure eventually I will be able to.
There's Chiquita, look at how her coloring is changing.
Here's some from the other day.
That's Mork, the one you saw hatching, with her nose in the ground. Butterball is behind. She is much lighter and reminded me of Butter...I know Butterball is a turkey, but it stuck.
Alice looking into the big pen. Look how cute the little black ones are. Now supossedly you can tell a rooster and a hen by their beak and wing placement. So to me I am thinking the front one is a hen and the back one might be a rooster...or the wings were down just in the picture cause all their wings seem the same when I look at them. It will be fun when we find out. I think like 4 - 5 weeks we should know.
The big girls were getting no attention so they figured they would play in the water.
Oh I haven't shown the chukars in a while. It's so sad to see so few of them since the dog attacked the cage. We still have one running around loose, and she hangs around the cage.
Eww...these are those bees I told you about. Thank goodness they left.
Here's the video I took yesterday.
Have an awesome Friday and thanks for stopping in.
