I told you yesterday I would show you the stuff I got the other day, so here goes.
Well I did find a couple small plates to put under my "cakes" and I think that finishes them off. I am also thinking of making a couple different top tiers so I can interchange it. Perhaps one with a bride and groom and put it out on our Anniversary, and maybe one that has a Happy Birthday on it?
An old kettle. Does not look like much now, but when it warms up I want to put a plant in it outside. Jeff drilled some holes in the bottom for drainage. He just shook his head when I was unloading the car...ha!
This is something neat for the salt & pepper (it is not old just weathered) on the table, again Jeff just shook his head...that is why I never take him antique shopping...he would have whip lash from all that head shaking.
What I use them for is when I am cutting ribbon/bakers twine for classes I set them on the spike and it is easy to unwind and cut, this keeps the spool in place and it allows it to spin and not get all twisted up or fall on the floor so I have to chase it. If I am cutting the same length I can cut several ribbons at the same time.
So originally the tea kettle was going to be this, and then a bit later I found this shabby chic watering can and loved it! So I stopped at a craft store and grabbed some silk flowers on the way home and so cute right? I can change out the flowers for the seasons.
Well when I ran in to get the silk flowers I wanted to get a foam thing to stick them into to keep them upright and look what I found...brand new in packaging, and I just laughed. Now it was plain metal, I spray painted it vanilla. It said it was made of lead and I should wash my hands after use cause of being cancer causing...so I figured paint wouldn't hurt, maybe trap in that lead right? Not sure if the old ones are the same? Perhaps a quick coat of paint on them too won't do any harm?
Well I think that is it for me tonight. I am headed to beddie bye, I just watched Downton Abbey, a nice long one. I need to see how many more episodes this season. The Dowager sure had some funny lines tonight.
Have an awesome Monday and thanks for stopping in.
