Last year after Convention I learned this cute trick to make an ordinary candy bar the life of the party! At my upline's meeting (hey Rhonda!) Elizabeth Martinez (hey girl) showed us how to cover a Kit Kat bar, and I demoed this at my workshops from Halloween through Christmas and everyone loved it.
You will need:
1.5oz kit kat bar (buy two, you know you're gonna wanna eat one)
Stamp set: Batty For You
Ink: Basic Black, Bashful Blue marker
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Ghostly Greetings DSP
Misc: Black gingham, crimper, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, crimper, snail, glue dots
Cut your DSP to 6x6, lay the Kit Kat in the center of the backside of the paper. Run snail along all 4 edges of the DSP.
Pull up one side and wrap the candy bar half way up. This is why you snailed all the way around.
Bring up the other side, and finish wrapping the bar.
Squeeze each open end closed (again this is why you use snail all the way around)
Put each end in the crimper and crimp till it touches the candy bar.
That makes it look like this...neat eh? Ya can't see it here but I picked the paper that said yum yum yum yum etc. I thought it was appropriate.
Cut a strip of basic black cardstock 1 1/4" x 7.5" - put snail on one end.
Wrap this around the wrapped bar and glue the cardstock strip to itself (you don't glue it to the DSP) in the back with the snail. That way you can move the strip back and forth so you can place it correctly.
There ya have the belly band on the bar.
Cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock to 7.5" x 1" and wrap it around the black belly band the same way.
You could decorate this strip first if you like with a wheel or something, I just left mine plain to skip a few steps in the tutorial, I figured it was long enough for ya.
Put this aside for now.
Stamp the little spider from the Batty for You set with Basic Black ink on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, and again on Pumpkin Pie cardstock.
Using the 1" circle punch, punch out the spider on the Whisper White cardstock.
Punch out the spider on the Pumpkin Pie paper with the 1 1/4" circle punch.
Punch out a 1 3/8" circle from Basic Black cardstock.
Color in the eyes of the tiger spider with the bashful blue marker.
I was gonna color them Kiwi Kiss, but I had already told ya Bashful Blue marker and did not want to pull a fast one on ya....
(I hear ya!) Fast??...holy heck, this tutorial is taking forever, it wont take me that long to eat the darned thing.....
Glue the whisper white spider over top the pumpkin pie spider.
Then glue the 1 3/8" basic black circle behind these two.
And that gives you...
...this!
Ain't he cute?
Tie a piece of black gingham ribbon around the belly bands.
Stack about 3 glue dots on each side (yeah I said 3 - that way you'll need to order more - ha!!!) just kidding, it just makes it stick up more. You could use a dimensional too, I just like the glue dots cause they are not as obvious from the side as a dimensional.
You want to put the glue dots so they are going to straddle the ribbon when you glue it on the front.
The End.....now let's Eat!
I wanna thank my new friend Gwen(y) for my little easel isn't it the cutest? It makes you think the candy bar is huge doesn't it? Cause it almost looks like this is a room, and the easel is in the corner with a huge candy bar on it. Hee! hee!
