8 Maids a Milking

That's my day. Over at Paper Craft Planet.  We are all in charge of a different day, so I picked number 8.  I thought it would be fun to use Milk Maid Caramels. But I could not find them and wonder if they are a Canadian thing. So instead I did Chocolate Malted "Milk" Balls.  We didn't have to do anything that worked for the day, but I thought it would be fun to at least try.

This time of year we are rushing trying to get everything done, and sometimes the easy peasy gifts are just as nice.  You need a little somethin' somethin' for a neighbor, the mailman, the milkman, the girls in the office, your boss, your Stampin' Up! Demonstrator...oops did I say that out loud..ha! Just kidding.  Although one of my sweet downline Donna gave me the cutest t-shirt today and it says Vampire Bait....I LOVE IT!!!

So while I was at the store looking for the caramels, I found this cute jar, and they come in all sizes, so I picked it up and thought hey how cute would this be with some of the Merry & Bright Rub-Ons on, or even a Decor element too.  And look how cute it is...

It was so easy to add the rub-on to the jar, and what is nice is, if later you want to re-use the jar you can wash off the rub-on if you want.  I tied some red polka dotted ribbon around it and...

...added an ornament punch on top with another of the rub-ons on it. Easy and cute.

Challenge

So my fellow Paper Craft Planet gal, the very talented Jen Tapler has a weekly scrapbook challenge, and in our little chat room over there she said "Di, I'm still waiting for you to bust out your SU digi stuff and play along one of these weeks" - well that sounded like a challenge to me, how about you?

So luckily for me the sketch seemed pretty clean and easy, and had lots of room for journaling, and well you know me and talking...ha!

and here is my page, not too bad, my borders are not perfectly even, but I can live with it.

It was fun to look at these old photos, it made me smile and get all melancholy. Now to be honest I was not sure how to have the writing go up and down on the side, so I chickened out and removed that part.

So I had my technique class 5 today and we learned some fun new things.  I am not going to do a technique class in December, and perhaps not in January. I want to take some time off in December, and Leadership is in AZ in January so my BFF Tracy is coming in so I want to be able to spend some time with her, cause that will go lickety split fast anyway.

We also have another big event coming up March 13th, so that will be here before you know it, so that needs to get figured out too.

I have the Top Note Class with the Trilogy ladies on Wednesday so I need to clean up from this mornings class and finish up any last minute stuff for them. Plus it's Sunday night (I do my posts at night...for those people that I totally confuse...eh Mandy?...when I say something about a tv show and my day is way off..) and my No. 1 Ladies Detective is coming on.......OMG! I almost panicked, when I saw the time, cause I thought I was missing it, but forgot about the time change.  Although I just realized it is also on on Friday night, so if I miss Sunday's I can catch it again...ok so what a dork I am...seems that Friday must be the REAL episode and Sunday is the repeat, cause this is Friday's episode I saw...hey looks like my Sunday night just opened up...well until Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters...ha!

I hope you had a great weekend.  The weather here has been really nice, we have to wear a coat in the mornings and evenings now. Stop rolling your eyes Jax!!! ha!

Another One?

Yep, I can't get enough, and so cute and easy.  I fancied this one up a bit by using an embossing folder.  I love the whisper white cardstock run through the folder, it looks so elegant.

I had wanted this set when I first saw it, and then my brain says "just wait, you don't need it just yet", then I see such cute things with it.  So when I turned in my Sale-a-Bration (SAB) points (as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator we earn free sets based on sales and recruiting during SAB - what a great perk eh?) This is one of the ones I picked, it has such cute sayings in it.

So today I went grocery shopping, I don't know why I waited till Sunday, cause everyone and their mother was there, but we needed food, so I got groceries, and then Jeff and I watched Underworld - Rise of the Lycans...it was totally excellent, I have seen all of them...and I am thinking they need to do one more that will connect this one with the first Underworld.  It sure made me like the Lycans (a.k.a. werewolves) better than the Vampires when I saw the movie from this far back... I know bite my tongue eh?  Oh and Lucian the head Lycan played by Michael Sheen is actually going to play a vampire, Aro the leader of the Volturi in the New Moon movie.  So how is that for a kick in the teeth fangs? I can hardly wait till the movie comes out, I have been scanning the internet for clips and all that. Check out the trailer below..(added since original post...so I took the trailer off, it would run even without clicking on it, and I didn't want people to get sick of it) .It's like 4 months away....geesh!!  I have been watching Trueblood since we have the DirectTV with the free HBO on it (at least for 3 months), and well that sure is some wild stuff, no wonder it is not on regular TV. I read all the books but to see it on TV...hmmm.......

Well I am gonna tidy up and call it a night!

Oldies but Goodies

So when I was pulling out stamp sets to do the PCP sketch, I pulled out these two retired old favorites. I am glad I did.  I got a phone call from a girl friend last night, Amy (hey sweet cheeks), and she invited me to go to a movie today and surprise two of our other friends, Robin, who I have not seen in forever, and Melissa my fellow vampire lover partner in crime. We are both vampire freaks...anyway.  So we were gonna go see "The Ugly Truth" and we even all bought our tickets.  We went to eat at Johnny Rockets and got gabbing about movies we wanted to see.  Well we talked about "The Hangover" and Melissa and I were both, "oh we want to see that" and we were even thinking we would go see it after "The Ugly Truth" we checked the times to see if it would work and then I think Robin or Amy said "why don't we just switch our tickets", so we did, we traded our tickets, and went to see "The Hangover" instead, I am so glad, it was hilarious, and I had not heard super reviews about "The Ugly Truth" movie........anyway, if you have not seen "The Hangover" I highly recommend it BUT, and this is a Big BUTT (notice spelling), there is swearing, and nudity, and stuff, but it is still hilarious...for adults!

They showed previews for the Adam Sandler movie "Funny People" which looks good, but I swear half the people in the cast were in the movie "Knocked Up"  it is so funny, how they team up people over and over.  Like Brad Pitt and George Clooney, I watched "Burn after Reading" the other night, that was a weird movie, one you had to really pay attention to, and what? is it like the 10th movie they have been in together?

We hoped for a preview of "New Moon", the second Twilight movie, but nope, there was tons of tv commercials, we almost forgot what movie we were gonna see cause they went on forever!!!

So anyway I got home, and "hopped to it" to make another card using Wendy's PCP sketch, cause it is so cute and so fast!

Bon Appetit

The Paper Craft Planet sketch is so cool this week.  Wendy was in charge and I love it.  This is an awesome sketch and it is a super one if you are teaching a class too.  Especially if you want to show off some coloring but not have to color too much.

Here is the sketch:

As soon as I saw the sketch I pulled out a bunch of stamp sets I wanted to try this on.  Some of them the stamped image was too big cause by the time I stamped three the card would have been too big.  But this image was perfect, and I kinda made it fun using a fancy greeting.

Stamp Set: Under the Stars,  Compliments to the Chef

Misc: Watercolor pencils, prismacolor pencils, sansodor oil and stumps, 3/4" circle punch, dimensionals

I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to get the placement of my smores.

The way I took the picture makes the smores look like they are not lined up, but when I look at it straight on they are...that'll teach me to be fancy and angle the card when I take the picture...ha!

Jeff and I went on a quick date tonight, just a nice supper at Uncle Bears, they have pretty good food and it is a pretty laid back atmosphere, I ran over to Walmart afterwards cause I want to buy The Wizard of Oz and they didnt have it, not even on line, they have an Anniversary one coming out in September, so I guess I need to look elsewhere.

Trash to...

...Smash-ing!

When I went to the dentist a while ago, I was complaining about tooth pain but they could not find anything, so they gave me some mouthwash that would help.  It came in a nice hard-ish kind of box, and a nice small-ish size.  I thought it would be perfect to use as a pattern for a gift bag-box.

Here is the box.

What I did was I took some Designer Series paper, and I wrapped the box like I would a present, but I left the top open. When you adhere your DSP together around the box, obviously you do it so you can not see the adhesive, I used sticky strip.  Then when you get it done, you just slide out the box, and then you have your finished project, ready to decorate.  I first learned how to do this from Debbie Grayson (Hi Debbie!), and then Linda Hansen (Hi Linda!) showed us at Convention one time too.

Tip: When you are wrapping your box, don't do it super tight, you want to be able to pull the box out of the DSP.

You can use anything, gosh you could use a hunk of wood if you wanted.  You are only limited to the size of the paper you are using to cover the box.

This is what it looks like after I decorated it, I was going to put a handle on it, but I wanted to leave it as more of like a table side gift, or you could put some cookies in it, in a cello bag, tie it with ribbon and give as a gift.  (Hey Ruth, wanna borrow my box?)

So lucky...

...my BFF Tracy will be here in a little over a week.  It seems like forever since she made her flight, and I have so much to do this week leading up to Eric's Graduation on Thursday night, and then his Graduation party on Saturday so that will make the time go faster.

I also have classes to plan too. My TLC class is filling up quickly, the morning is pretty much full and only a few seats left in the night class. I also have a 10/10/20 Birthday card class in June, and I need to get those cards designed as well.

When I was at home (my hubby gets mad when I call Canada home...cause he says Arizona is my home - but I think of them both as home...when I was in Canada, I said home, and meant AZ)  last month, while I was at Victopia I sat and colored a bunch of images.  To me, coloring is peaceful and makes me happy, and well you can visit and not pay super attention to what you are doing in a way, unlike cutting out...another thing I love to do, but that takes a good light and concentration, nothing makes me madder then being almost done cutting something out and then crap...you cut off a piece of leaf or something and have to start all over.

I remember growing up and one night after supper doing dishes, there was this one dish that was so crusted with food, you know the kind "Mum I'm gonna let it soak" cause you figure you would let it soak all night and then someone else would wash it...but not this time, I scrubbed and scrubbed that dang dish, only to drop the freakin' thing when I was drying it and smashed it all to heck...I was like should have thrown it away to begin with...ha!

So anyway, one of the images I colored while I was at Vicki's was this little farmer girl from The Greeting Farm.  A few months back I won a contest that The Greeting Farm was having and I got this set for free, as well as an Anya set (I also colored an Anya but I have not made her into a card yet)...anyway I colored all these things so I figured it would be easy to whip up cards when I needed them, and this one I know exactly who is going to get it.
