Stamping With Di

Garden from the Heart Peek

As soon as I saw this stamp set in the new Mini Catalog I knew I was gonna get it. Sure it doesn't have a bucket, but it has an awesome wicker hat and some fun flowers, and love love the gloves and the shovel. You will be able to order it January 5.

I had some card guts left over from my downline shoebox sitting on my table, so I grabbed it and whipped up this card.

Stamp Set: Garden from the Heart, Tiny Tags

Paper: Lovely Lilac, Basic Black, Whisper White

Ink: Basic Black

Misc: Sansodor, stumps, watercolor pencils, Finial press embossing folder, white gel pen, word window punch

I cut out the hat and glue dotted it on, then I cut out the glove and shovel stamp and glue dotted it on too.

New Moon Excitement

This post is gonna be quick, I gotta get to bed so I can get a few hours sleep, I gotta get up bright and early to head over to MAMMa's and we are driving together to get in line to see New Moon. I got my little folding chair and my camera to get pics of everyone, and I am hoping I can get some sleep.  I never did get the New Moon book done.  Oh well.  I will read for a few hours still so I will get close to being finished.

I whipped up a quick cute card tonight with an old favorite set.  Remember Betsy the Beekeeper?  The date on the sticker says 1998.  So it is definitely an oldie but a goodie.

I took two pictures.  One with DSP behind and one with white behind to see if it makes a difference and which you like best.

 

Here it is with the DSP, it kinda shows the shape and edges of the card better.

 

And here it is with the white.  Which do you like best? Can you see one better then the other?

The recipe is simple, the stamp set is Betsy the Beekeeper, the paper is Whisper White, I stamped with Basic Black, and colored with watercolor pencils, stumps and sansodor.

Cute eh?

Well I am off to bed, I will give my opinion of New Moon tomorrow, I can't even describe how excited I am.

Holiday LineUp Spotlight

Tomorrow is my downline meeting, and I am looking forward to seeing everyone.  We have a special guest, Carol coming who is going to teach us how to make some very special ornaments.  I'll see if I can share them with you or not.

So I needed to make my swap card for the meeting, so I took a gander around the web and checked on some of my favorite blogs.  Renée, a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator from Canada is one talented gal, so I used this card as my inspiration.

I colored with my watercolor pencils and the sansodor and then added more red with the Real Red marker, and since there was watercolor pencil layed down on the paper first, I was able to blend my Real Red marker with the sansodor, I just dabbed it with a tissue when I was done to make sure it was good and dry.  Aren't these little guys cute?

Here's the finished card, I put a little gel pen on the greeting to make it look like snow had settled on top.

So tonight I watched Ghost Whisperer, and I have not seen it since I guess it was the end of last season where the husband finally remembered the ghost whisperer wife (how sad, I can't think of their names), but anyway I turned it on and they have a little boy. Who is he?  Did they jump several years into the series or what? 

Well I gotta clean my mess of a studio up for tomorrow!

Color My World...

...or at least 6 cute snowmen.

Remember I told you that out of the 10 cards for my Christmas class only one was a card that will need to be colored.  Anyone that has been to one of my classes, or heck just read my blog regularly know that I am much more comfortable with an open line stamp, and some crayons.  I mean I loved to color as a kid and I guess it just stuck with me.

So I wanted to show you the card, and I got the layout and only tweaked it barely to even say it was tweaked...perhaps I should say it was twacked instead.  I got the card from Nyny over at Splitcoaststampers, and I think she is french as the original card had a french greeting and even her description was in french.  Growing up in Canada we had to learn french and well, sorry to my french teachers, but I hated french, we had to sit in these little booths and wear these little head sets, and then listen to the words and repeat back, and I couldn't understand a word so usually I just moved my lips but didnt say anything outloud.  But you didn't know when the teacher would listen in on you, and then I would get into trouble.  Looking back it was probably my deafness, cause I didnt wear hearing aids till 1988, right before Eric was born, so I went 23 years without them, so I probably really didn't hear it right.  Even now, if someone talks to me and I can't read their lips it is sometimes hard for me to understand. Go to the mirror right now...and say the words rat, cat, hat, bat, mat, sat.  Did you watch your lips?  No, then say them again.  If someone does not hear right, all those words sound the same, but when you see the lips move to pronouce the first letter like  "r" or the "b" etc, then the brain kinda figures out what the word is...at least that is how I understand it, and how my ears work anyway, everybody's deafness is different.   I always have the closed caption words on the TV in my studio...always...Jeff hates it, but when I am in the house watching tv, he won't put them on...aint he a bugger? I love saying bugger cause that is what my Granny always says, it is like a swear word but not a bad one.

So anyway, now I got off the topic, you just came here to see the card, and there she goes blabbity blab blab, get on with it Di...so here goes...

The picture looks weird but the scallop border is on the front of the card flap, so when you close the card you can see the inside of the card, and the red stripe of DSP...I hope that makes sense.

So today I spent the day over at Rhonda's (hey honey, thanks for my night time Frappa, and thanks Dave for letting me steal your wife for the day, missing your lunch and dinner...and even your linner), we were finalizing up the September to Remember orders, we always tease each other, Rhonda is the numbers figure gal, I like to create, but don't ask me how many pieces of cardstock it will take to make 65 cards...I am like well that piece of paper is 3 and a dit by 5 and two dits, and Rhonda will say that is 3  x 5 (enter correct fraction or whatever) and it will take 17 sheets of 8.5 x 11 right about then my eyes glaze over - I also sucked at Math in school...so wow wasn't I a prize student...horrible in French, Math ugh, don't get me started on Geography even now if I don't park in the same spot at the store I wander the parking lot like a lost soul trying to find my car.  I just write where I park on my grocery list..."aisle 3 facing store" and then I know where to look when I come out...there I went again just blabbing.....anyway we needed to get it all figured out so we can get the orders in, we will have lots to do before the event.  I will share the make n takes AFTER the event, we want everyone to be surprised and not let them see what they are making till that day...aint that mean?

Well I got all my 10/10/20 Christmas cards figured out, and I am working down my To- Do List.

One thing I want to do, is proudly Welcome Sheri Smith to my Di's Country INKers family.  I have known Sheri for quite a few years, and I know she is going to do awesome, she has talent like you wouldn't believe.  Welcome Sheri!!

If you too are thinking of becoming a Demonstrator, don't put it off much longer, the $85.00 kit ends on August 31st.  I had a few people ask me if they had to do all the classes and events like I do? My answer is no you certainly do not. Stampin' Up! has a very small quarterly minimum that you have to do and that is it.  I choose to do the classes, clubs, events etc. cause this is my full time job, and I love doing it.  If you work outside the home, have small kids, or just want to save money on your Stampin' Up! orders, you too can be a Demonstrator.  Just holler at me if you have any questions, I would love to have you join my family too.

Artisan Dinner Swap

Well in the morning I fly out, so my blog will be kinda boring as I will set it to post while I am gone.  I'll fill you in all the fun details when I get back.

The other 9 Artisan Award winners and I are going to be swapping cards at our dinner on Friday night, and this is the card I did for it.  I used the In the Spotlight Technique to do this card.  It looks pretty neat I think.
