Memories of the Man in Black

OK, so I really don't have memories of Johnny Cash, just pictures and stories that my Mum and Dad have told me over the years.

Seems that I was actually at the concert where Johnny proposed to June.  My Dad used to be a drinker, and he would drink and hang out with Johnny Cash when he came to town.

It was very interesting to watch the Johnny Cash movie "Walk the Line" with my Dad, cause he would comment different times during the movie "well the bus wasn't like that" or "the curtains were a different color" things like that.

So all I know is this:

Johnny Cash0001

At one of the concerts, Johnny Cash held me, and here is the proof.  I don't know if this is when he proposed to June or not.

I look a little frightened, but I think at that age every kid is.

Johnny Cash0002

Then a couple years later I was at another concert, I was quite the social butterfly I guess. I sat on his lap while he signed autographs. In fact the picture above with me as a baby is signed on the back.

This was maybe my first kiss from a man other then a relative.  Hmmm.....

Johnny Cash0003

Then this is me trotting off with my signed picture, and remembering the kiss from a star! Heck I don't know what I was thinking...probably I can't wait to scrapbook this...ha!

first kill

So when I was not out at concerts partying with all the stars, I guess I was killing animals, and putting meat on the table. Ha! Not really, but I think Diana stands for the Goddess of Hunting...well the only thing I hunt to kill now is scorpions (it's the season).

Although I did marry a hunter, so maybe that counts eh?

It just floors me that I look so innocent with a big smile on my face, and the poor old deer is dead, and I am sitting there.  Ugh!

I am so excited, we are going to be going to see Peter Breinholt, Mary Hoffman (unless she wins the contest tonight then she will be opening for Kenny Chesney, Lee Ann Rimes, and Keith Urban instead), and my favorite band - Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand - I just got their new CD, (it's autographed and everything) and listened to it about 4 times straight today while I made my Stamp Club deliveries.

I am a bit of a stalker of the band, (this will be like the 6th time I have seen them - only cause we don't live in Utah or it would be more) in fact they were the entertainment for the Stampin' Up! Convention last year, and I pretended I did not know, but I asked their management team and they told me. So my BFF Tracy and I were going in to Convention early anyway, so we went in and saw the entertainment last year twice....I know bad....but hey, they are my boys ya know.  I always flirt with Craig Miner the banjo player.  Hee!Hee!  I guess I should blame my parents, heck they had me kissing musicians when I was a kid, dragging me around sitting on laps, smoozing with the paparazzi  Ha!....it's in the blood man! Wonder if I can sit on Craig's lap while he signs autographs.....???? Huh honey what ya think?  NOT!!!!

Anyway thanks for stopping in!

Birthday Class

I am sitting in my studio watching Last Comic Standing (some of these comics are pretty funny), in fact one year we saw the winner John Heffron at the Improv in Tempe about a year before he was on the show.  He was the opening act for a guy named Pablo (in fact Pablo was on the Last Comic Standing show the same year as John and he never got picked - he was not very good) and John was much funnier then Pablo, so it was great to see him win the show.  In fact he opened up with a joke about being covered in glitter because he had been at a strip joint, but he said he was out making cards so his girlfriend would not be mad......and as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in the crowd, I felt like he was telling that joke just for me. It was love at first laugh.

I'm looking forward to the Celebrity Circus that should be good for some laughs! They keep showing clips with Peter Brady doing some wacky circus things and getting hurt. Not that I want to see him get hurt, but you can't help but laugh. Pork Chops and Applesauce, remember that? I mean I can't even say the word Pork Chops without saying and Applesauce after it.  Kinda like when my hubby says "That'll do" he always says "pig" after it.  Cause of the movie "Babe".

Then America's Got Talent is coming back on and that is usually pretty good too. The ventriloquist guy was phenomenal last year. You can see him on U-Tube.

I am working on my cards for my 10/10/20 Birthday card class.  This card is based on a swap I got from Melony Hannah, I don't remember where I got it though, I have had it for a while and just loved the look of it, and how easy it is.

While I was at home my sister was going through a stack of photos and she came across this one, and I snagged it, I mean heck it's me so I should have it - right?! Ha!

I just can't believe how stinking cute I was as a little kid. I can say that cause I grew out of it!

I just wish I knew what I was doing in the picture, am I diana and volkswagen saying " please Mummy can I have some candy?" or am I saying "I really have to pee" based on my laughing till I pee my pants as an adult I am thinking it is the latter.

Either way, ya gotta love the outfit, and that hat...well it puts Sara Jessica Parker's acorn/butterfly/ flower hat to shame.

Have a great Friday, and thanks for stopping in!

The Farmer in the Dell, I mean The Farmer in Parkhill!

Holy Moly!  Jeff grew up on a farm so he knows how much work it is, but ya kinda forget about it when you work inside all day, and 20 years or more have gone by.

Well Jeff got a taste about what farming is like again when we went home to visit my family, the first couple days we got there, him and my Dad put a applicator together piece by piecetrip to canada 08 009

Here he is covered in grease.  Too funny, I mean he loves this stuff. He said he really did have fun, and totally appreciates how hard my Dad works.

What the applicator looked like when they got it all built.

My Dad and Mum have a farm in Ontario and they have steers and sheetrip to canada 08 025p too.  My Dad also does custom work and crop shares or something like that with other farmers, so he had to plant beans one of the days, so Eric went with Grandpa in the big tractor over to Bert's farm.

trip to canada 08 026

Jeff followed behind on the other tractor pulling something else. I wish we lived closer so that Jeff could help Dad more often.

I think his tractor's sexy!

My Mum wanted me and my sister Jacqui to do a workshop together while we were home so that was the day we had it scheduled.

So we kinda wondered as the day went on if we should take the guys some food but Mum said Bert's wife would feed them, so then we went about our fun stamping ways and forgot about them.  So about 6:00 or so (heck it coulda been 8pm, it stays light till 9 there....geesh) anyway Eric comes walkin' in, face all covered in dirt, and he had fun he said, and went right to bed.  Jeff came in a little bit after, and I asked him if he had fun farming, and he just gave me the thumbs up, so then I said you want to move back here and take up farming? and again he gave me the thumbs up...well then I got to lookin' at him a little closer, and he had this stupid grin on his face and his eyes were a little bloodshot, and I said were you drinking beer all day? and again I got the thumbs up. Well what an ass, he and Bert sat on the porch all day and drank beer while Dad planted beans. Now granted there was nothing Jeff could have been doing to help, but still, I had to laugh, the bugger.

The day before we left Dad had the sheep sheerer guy come and sheer the sheep! OMG! Now that is a job I would not want.  Who woulda thunk mtrip to canada 08 072y cute light blue Stampin' Up! hoodie would ever have sheep pee and snot on it...yep! It did! I mean it is all washed off now, I washed it twice!!! but blech! I am so a city girl!

So anyway Mum and Dad have this one ram and he will butt you if you are not careful, but really he is just a sweetheart and just wants his back scratched, and if you keep scratching it, he is fine...but stop and whammo!!! In fact too funny, he wags his tail like a danged dog when you do it. Here he is explaining to Jeff, that he wants his back rubbed. I think he is saying a little to the left, if you know what's good for ya!

trip to canada 08 073  So see how nice he is once you understand what he wants?  And OMG! most of them did not want to be sheered, but this ram just laid there and hardly fussed, so my job was to open the gate and let the sheered ones in and make sure they did not get out in between times. Well they all went in and could care less about me and the gate, but this ram would hang around that gate, and I would rub his back and he would wag his tail, then the next sheep would come in, a girl, and then she would pee and that stupid ram would be over there with his face in it, and then back over to me...hence the pee and snot on my hoodie.  I manned the gate for about 36 sheep and then I had to go in and get laundry done, and my back was killing me.  Eric totrip to canada 08 076ok over my spot.

Here is the sheep sheerer guy, I mean I could not even do one sheep let alone 54 of the things, and this was a slow day he said...as my BFF Tracy's cutie patootie hubby says "eye-yi-yi"

...and after!

We also went to see Granny a couple times, and she looks so good compared to when I saw her last year in the hospital.  We trip to canada 08 038hope that some day she will be able to move from the nursing home and into an apartment, but she needs to get much stronger. She still is very opinionated and strong willed, and that is great, I worry when she just lays there and does not fuss then that will not be good. She also has the memory of an elephant and that can be good and bad.

Family picture outside of Nursing Home, it was great while we were home cause they had a family picnic while we were there so Granny got to see everyone.

Eric, Jeff, Me, Mum (Linda), Dad (Ed), Sister Courtney, almost Brother in Law when he buys that darned ring (Jason - aka Jay - real estate extraordinare), and my Sister Jacqui

We also went to my sisters new house in Woodstock, Jeff and Eric had never been there before. Mtrip to canada 08 016y other Dad (I have two) drove in to see us, and it was great to see him too.

Left to right: Me - wearing my pre-peed/snot SU! hoodie, Dad (Wayne), Sister Jacqui

While I was home, Jacqui and I went to a nursery, and OMG! I would have spent $500.00 or more there if I lived in Canada the plants were gorgeous!

The first one is a passion flower, trip to canada 08 017 I couldn't get over the little things in the center that almost looked like frogs legs.

trip to canada 08 018 This one is just a grouping they had in a hanging basket....oh I wish I could grow stuff like that in AZ!

Well that is all I have to share with you right now.  Hope you enjoy seeing some of the pics from my vacation, I know we had so much fun!

Thanks for stopping in!

Back to the U.S, Back to the U.S of A

Well we are all back from Canada, Eric is off to school, Jeff to work and me cleaning, doing laundry, getting the hummingbird feeders filled back up, class prep etc.  Need to make a double batch of food though.  I thought I would add a pack of the red food that you get at the store...they don't seem to like it, so back to regular sugar water.

We did buy an Oriole feeder while we were home so I hope they use it.

I promise to post more tomorrow and show you some fun pics.

It was so great to be home to see all my family....all of us went this time.. it has been quite a few years since we have ALL been back.  I miss everyone already.

Thanks for stopping in!

Hugs, Di

Oh Canada!

Well I am headed out to see my family for a week and I can hardly wait, so I will be pretty quiet for a while.  My Mum and Dad have dial-up so I don't know if I will be getting on the computer while I am there, other then to check my email real quick.

DSC04074

Here's a picture of them, taken not long ago, I love it, as they are both having a good time in the picture. It is Dad's birthday while I am home, so it will be fun to spank him, and pinch him for good luck, or is it to grow an inch?  Mum has a big smile on her face, so I guess his inches are just fine....OMG! can you believe I said that?  Pretend I didn't!

I am going to get to see my Granny since she came home froGranny 89m the hospital and went into a nursing home, and I am looking forward to that too.  Here she is in April on her 89th birthday!  Beautiful isn't she?  I always wondered what it would have been like for her if she had of been born in my time, if that makes sense.  Because Granny was a wife and mother, and never learned to drive and she did not work out of the home, but man can she do math, and she is so smart with crosswords and stuff, and her memory is still sharp as a tack, and I just wondered, what kinda job she would have had in this day and age, cause she is one smart lady.

Well I also wanted to share a funny picture with you that my BFF Tracy sent me.  Years ago Jeff's nephew got married and they had the funniest picture with all the groomsmen and groom and they were in their tuxes, and they had rifles, and Billy had one in his belt and they looked like Wyatt Earp's gang.  It was the greatest picture. I will have to ask Lindsey if I can post it.

So that got Tracy thinking how fun it would be to have Jessica's wedding picture (not the main one obviously- and not for many years from now) with looking like it was a shotgun wedding...so Jessica - who it is her Birthday today! Happy Birthday Jessica, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Diana and Eric love you! anyway, Jessica just had prom and Tracy sent me some pictures, and one made me laugh so hard..it almost became a Poise moment!!...those of you country and western fans out there, think of the new Rodney Atkins song - Come on In Boy (cleaning this gun) not sure of real name! - here's the lyrics if you are not into C&W!

The Declaration of Independence
Think I could tell you that first sentence
But then I’m lost
I can't begin to count the theories
I've had pounded in my head
That I forgot
I don't remember all that Spanish
Or the Gettysburg address
But there is one speech from high school
I'll never forget
(Chorus)
Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she's something else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respecte421
That’s what she'll get
Ain’t it son?
Hey y'all run along and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
Bet I’ll be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun
Well now that I’m a father
I’m scared to death one day my daughter
Is gonna find
That teenage boy I used to be
That seems to have just one thing on his mind
She’s growin' up so fast
It won't be long before
I’ll have to put the fear of god into
Some kid at the door
(Chorus)
Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she's something else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respect
That’s what she'll get
Now ain't it son?
Y’all go out and have some fun
I'll see you when you get back
Probably be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun
Now it's all for show
Ain’t nobody gonna get hurt
It’s just a daddy thing
And hey, believe me, man it works
(Chorus)
Come on in boy sit on down
And tell me about yourself
So you like my daughter do you now?
Yeah we think she's something else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respect
That’s what she'll get
Now ain't it son?
Y’all run along and have a little fun
I'll see you when you get back
Probably be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun
Son, now y'all buckle up and have her back by ten- let's say about nine...thirty.
Drive safe.

Isn't that the funniest picture, and aren't they the cutest couple?

OK, I gotta get my butt out the door and headed to the airport!

Thanks for stopping in!
