It's Your Lucky Day...
February 13, 2009
We have a winner...the random.org number generator thing picked number 183 (for some reason my computer wouldn't copy and let me paste the picture, and I couldn't re-boot and come back or it would pick a different number - I might have to use something different or re-boot before I pick from now on...anyway) I'm all re-booted and ready to go...
Congratulations to Shelley - here is what she said...
I don't know if you know this about me but I am a bit superstitious...perhaps anal and superstitious go hand in hand. One of the things that I am superstitious about is making sure to go in the same door I go out. So when I leave my house I leave through my studio door, and I make sure I go back in that door when I return. In fact sometimes I will go out to ask Jeff something as he is working in the yard and I will walk back to the house and think oh crap which door did I come out of, cause sometimes it's the front door. I can remember one time standing there trying to remember and Jeff pointed to my studio door and said "that one". I mean the whole family can go in the front door on the way back home from a trip, and I will unlock my studio door to go in there. Yeah the poor man what he has to put up with.
I am the same way at the store too, I mean heck at the grocery store I will go in the exit door cause that is the door I have to leave from. I mean it aint like I have to pry the door open or stand there till someone comes out, the sensor opens from either side so really when you think about it, should it even have "exit only" written on it?
But I will admit I am getting better, someone asked me one time "what do you do when you can not go out the same door as you go in or vice versa?" and I was like well that is beyond my control and does not count. One day I was telling I think it was Sharon (I'm blaming you anyway - ok honey?) my funny little thing about the doors, and she said that sounds like OCD to me, and I was like what? I do not have that, and she was like yep, sounds like it. So from that day on I was like I don't have that. Now if I have to use a different door I don't worry that the sky will fall or something, and I will go in one and out a different one...but it is not like I purposely look for a different door, I find my car easier if I use the same door too, and at the grocery store...the ummm....exit only door is close to the bank so that is why I use that one...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
So as I ramble, what was my point you ask? Well not only do you have a chance to win my 1 year Anniversary blog candy, you also have the chance to win some awesome blog candy from Our Craft Lounge. When Cami asked if I wanted to be part of the give-away and blog hop I said YOU BET I WANNA DO IT!!!! I love Cami, Joy and Kimberly - they have some fun stuff. There are over 20 of us so you want to make sure to hop around to each blog and enter a comment, cause you could win them all maybe if you are lucky. Just leave only one comment per blog, repeats will be removed. The question is: What is your favorite Our Craft Lounge stamp set so far? A winner will be chosen on Sunday from each blog. I will use random.org to find my winner, and will pick at noon Arizona time. Please note that this is separate blog candy than my Anniversary candy so you can also comment here on this post and perhaps you could win both!!!
Wanna see the set you can win from answering the question on my blog?
It is one of my favorite new sets that was debuted at CHA.
It is called "Growing Gratitude" and it is on Crafty Cling Rubber.
I love flowers, and I love love love watering cans and flower pots, so this set screamed my name when I saw it.
There are a few new flower sets, as well as a fun new Robot one, and you have seen the new Easter Pea-Nut, and the tooth fairy, and did I show you the Granny set? So much fun stuff.
It will almost be like an easter egg hunt as you hop from blog to blog checking out the new sets, commenting on each blog, and hopefully winning!
I made up a couple cards so you could see the set in action.
Paper: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Watercolor Paper, Raspberry Tart DSP
Ink: Palette Noir, Bordering Blue, Really Rust, Cameo Coral, Rose Red, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Old Olive, Going Gray
Misc: Martha Stewart border punches, nestabilities, organdy ribbon, word window punch, white gel pen
To get the watering can to look "rusty" I simply colored it with Bordering Blue and then took my Really Rust and added it into places while the Blue was still wet, this is something you usually don't want to do, that whole bleeding look and colors blending together but this time you do.
Tip:When watercoloring make sure the area you are coloring is totally dry before you color the next section, especially if they butt up to each other, otherwise you colors will bleed into each other cause the ink will follow the water.
So the can looks cool huh? I mean who hasnt seen an old metal watering can, and they have rust here and there.
I also thought I would try out a Mojo Monday Sketch - you know I love sketches, and this one was perfect. For some reason I can't get the little sketch picture to come here, so you will have to go there to see it if you want. I changed it a bit by not putting the greeting underneath, so maybe it is not that sketch anymore.
Stamp Set: Growing Gratitude, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Parisian Breeze DSP, Gina K Luxury
Ink: Memento Tuxedo, Copics, Creamy Caramel, Baja Breeze, Really Rust, Chocolate Chip
Misc: Wide Chocolate Grosgrain, creamy gingham, corduroy button, flower soft
What is flower soft? Well I don't really know WHAT it is, but this is what it looks like close- up.
I added it to the flowers and along the bottom of the card too on the ground, it looks better in person, and what is cool is it lays flat-ish so you can mail them without the old pay extra for a bump thing at the Post office.
