Technique Lovers Class - Faux Metal Tin Ceiling

Technique metal tin
While Eric and Mike went to a movie, Jeff and I thought we would go grab a bite to eat.  A little impromptu date.  We had not been to The Deli since my BFF Tracy was here, and we were having withdrawals.  It was delicious as usual, and we even ran into Penny and her hubby Gary there (waving hi!!).

We ran a few errands, or actually I ran them and Jeff snoozed in the truck.  He had to work today and was up at like 3am.  I am not even human at that time. Ha!

I worked on one of the other techniques we will be doing at class.  This is the Faux Metal Tin Ceiling, and it is so fun.  I love it with this pretty Easter set that is in the new mini catalog.

Isn't it pretty? It even works for my sweet friend Sankari's Titanic challenge too.

Added since original post: I have been getting a bunch of emails with questions on how I did this technique.  This is a technique I will be teaching at my class in February.  I will be making a video tutorial with instructions on how to do this technique and will post it after the class.  I must give the girls attending class the opportunity to learn it first...thanks for understanding.

Here is the video tutorial - enjoy!

OK, I am getting my butt off here and hitting the hay, I want to get up early tomorrow and get lots done.

Have a blessed Sunday and thanks so much for stopping in!

Happy Anniversary Mum and Dad

DSC04074

30 years and still going strong! I love this picture of Mum and Dad, I am sure my sister Jacqui sent it to me and I don't know where it was taken but they look like they are having a lot of fun.   I miss them both and wish we lived closer.  I love you Mum and Dad!!

So today Sharon (hey chickee) and I went to see "The Blindside", it was really good, it made us laugh and cry. We even ran into Ellie and Ed (hey you two, how was YOUR movie?) on the way out of the theater.  Small world eh?

We also went to the Olive Garden for lunch and headed over to Ross after to snoop around. You never know what you will find there, and look what I found.  I don't know what I am going to do with them yet, but they were too cute (and cheap) to pass up.

Aren't they adorable? I love the little wiggly sides of them.

Do they look familiar?

Maybe this will help...Bermuda Bay, Certainly Celery, and Yoyo Yellow...ha!

So one of the other cards the girls will be doing at my next Technique class is this one.  I got this card from Ilina Crouse. She does such cute stuff.

Pretty much cased it, just used different paper, ribbon, greeting and embellishment.

Technique Lovers Class - Faux Suede

DSCN0631 copy
For my upcoming Technique Lover's Class in February, one of the techniques everyone will do is Faux Suede.  I remember learning this technique years ago, but Donna Griffith from Stampin' Up! recently showed an adorable card, that I totally had to case.  She used a rhinestone brad in the center of the flower, and I used an epoxy brad instead.  At class it will be a button and gingham since the epoxy brads might not make it in time for class, they have been very popular, and are on back order, so I don't want to risk it.

What do you think? Cute eh?

Becoming a Vegan

Today I had the TV on, I have the autotune set to catch Twilight whenever it comes on.  It was over by the time Oprah came on and I flipped it over there to see what she was saying today.  She had Alicia Silverstone on there and she was talking about being a vegan and eating healthy and she has a cook book.  I checked it out online, and a few people said it was hard to even find the ingredients in the store, so that does not sound like a good idea or an easy idea anyway.  Although I really want to start eating healthier, I mean Jeff and I are not getting any younger, and when Jeff had his last check up his cholesterol was high...ugh!

One thing that is easy is pretty much copying a card right out of the catalog, or this case it was the new mini catalog.  I changed the card just a little bit, but not much.

So today I went out to take a picture of the owl, it rained this morning, and I thought I had better take a picture in case he takes off again.  This time he looked even more bored to see me, I think I interrupted his nap.

DSCN0611 copy
He could barely open his eyes or perhaps he was pretending to sleep, and he never moved at all except for his eyes squinting to look at me.  But as I walked away when I looked back, he was totally watching me leave, as his head turned my way.

So later I thought I would go sit on the back porch with my camera and see what other critters I would see to take pictures of. The pictures are horrible, I mean why have a camera that can zoom when the pictures are all pixelly.  I really need to save up for a better camera.  I know I keep saying that eh?

Anyway, here is the owl again...

DSCN0629 copy
...still looking bored, but kinda neat cause it is a side view. I think it is so cool that he looks like wood.

Then I saw a rabbit...

DSCN0619 copy
...this picture is blurry, and almost looks like a watercolor painting or something.

Then I saw a hummingbird, so happy that I filled the feeders, I like to pretend it is the one I fed...

DSCN0618 copy
...but Jeff just rolls his eyes when I say that.

Then I saw this red bird...

DSCN0620 copy
...not sure what it is cause the picture is not too clear, I don't think it is a robin, and I think it has too much red for a female cardinal and not enough red for the male.

That was it for the critters, once the weather gets warmer there will be more.

I will sign off for now. Have a great Thursday and thanks for stopping in!

He's Back!!

Diana Bird Punch
Well the owl was gone for about a week maybe, once we got all the rain and wind, and he came back today. I am so happy!  I wonder where he was all that time?  Glad he feels comfortable here at our place.  I think it is cause we left everything natural.  When we had the house built 12 years ago we told the builder we didn't want them ripping up trees.  We had the builder mark the trees that had to be taken down and we cleared some and they did too.  We also marked trees that we hoped they would leave, so it worked for all of us.  Some of the other builders in the neighborhood, they came and totally cleared the land first.  Why they do that I don't know.  That is why we have so many trees and stuff, cause it was here already. So the rabbits, prairie dogs, lizards...and the owls...and ugh...yeah even an occasional snake...feel safe here I guess.

OMG! Did I ever tell you the spider story?  When we were having the house built we came out every weekend to check on it, and clear brush and stuff, and one time after it had been stuccoed the builder said if we could hose it down when we came out it would help it not dry so fast.  So one other time I had noticed these holes in the dirt and I asked Jeff what they were and he said spider holes, and I thought hmmm..big enough hole.  I just assumed it took over a hole from someone.  So anyway, as we were hosing the house, I was washing off the back patio and the water was going into this hole and all of a sudden a TARANTULA crawls out, it was the size of my hand, and I freaked. I was screaming, and Jeff was like "I told you it was a spider hole"...don't you think he could have said tarantula?  So anyway after we moved out here, when we would walk out at dusk you would see all these tarantulas scurry to their holes.  They would come out to eat at night.  Now that we have been here for a while, I have not seen one for years.

I did have a picture on my computer...I think you all know what they look like though...no need to frighten anyone so I get that awful unsubscribe notice "content no longer relevant" - ha!

Diana Bird Punch 2
I don't think I have shown this card yet.  It is not an owl, but it is "owlfully" cute.  I am going to do a class where everyone coming gets their own Two Step bird punch, let me know if you want to attend.

Stamp Set: Thank You Kindly

Paper: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Sweet Pea DSP, Bashful Blue, Whisper White

Ink: Old Olive

Misc: Two Step bird punch, bashful blue brads

So American Idol tonight was odd, I think we only saw like 3 people get picked but they found 12 or I don't know how many to go onto Hollywood.  The first guy was so oily looking, and I don't know how at one point he had long hair but when he went to sing it was short, how do they do that?  The guy that was laying all over the floor and flirting with EVERYONE...that had me shaking my head, but he was more entertaining then some of them. I think he just wanted to be on TV.  Also Avril Lavigne, she was not a good judge, and please take off the devil eared hoodie, I mean it was cute at first, but then OK we all seen it already, take it off. The other judge Katy Perry, she had pretty blue eyes, she was more grown up then the rest of them, and I loved how she put Kara in her place...ha!  I can hardly wait for the real show to start and to see Ellen on there.  I have heard that her and Simon do not get along. Imagine that.  I really liked the curly hair guy they picked at the end. He had an awesome voice, other then that most of them are kind of forgettable from tonight.

OK I am getting off here for tonight, and will chat with you tomorrow. I guess we are supposed to get more rain, so I hope our little owl sticks around.

Have a great Wednesday, and thank you so much for stopping in!
