July 2011

30% Off

Today is the last day to sign up to be a Demonstrator for only $99.00.  Do you have a big wish list out of that amazing new catalog?  Did you know as a new Demonstrator your first order within the first 45 days that totals at least $150.00, you save 30%. You don't even have to use a coupon...awesome eh?  If you are thinking about it, don't miss out.  You can sign up today through my website, and start ordering right away.  Give me a holler if you have any questions, I would love to have you join my team.

A few of you have emailed me and asked how Fiji is doing.  So I actually brought her inside today, and shut her up in my studio with me (that way Toby couldn't love on her...in his dog way...which I am assuming would not be good).

She sat on my shoulder for a bit.

007 copy
This is me holding the camera way out and trying to get her all in the photo and not look like a duck, I mean a dork at the same time. She has only pooped maybe once by this time. Luckily not down my back.

012 copy
So then I finally put her on the floor so she could walk around.  She pooped a few more times. I mean this was like in 15 minutes, how many times does a chicken poop already?  You never see that question on Jeopardy. "What is every 2 minutes, Alex?"

I sat down on the floor and she immediately climbed up on my knee and sat there. She is a little love. She then pooped on my pants and it was runny not the nice clean up kind like before, and I had to strip off my pants and stain stick them and put on some new ones, meanwhile she is following me around like a dog and comes with me into the laundry room.  So then I am changed and we come back in my studio, and she just walks around with me...pooping every so often.

015 copy
See how big she is getting? I still am pretty sure she is a Blue Cochin (see below), and still hoping she is a she.

018 copy
I love her colors and she is going to be beautiful when she grows up. I was talking to my BFF Tracy the whole time she was in here pretty much, and she cleaned and preened her feathers the whole time.  She would spread them out and then she would scooch down and sit on my knee, then she would preen some more. She was making her little contented noise, I should have taped it, I will next time.

021 copy
Here she is standing on one leg and oh I see she has pooped yet again.  I don't think you could have a chicken as a pet in the house very good could you? But she is such a love, and I am so glad she found a good home and that she was saved from being killed by something.

022 copy
Here you can see her feathery little feet, I think by the time she is grown she will be all feathery.  She has the longest fingernails too.

Well that is Fiji, and that will be my post for today, I have been mounting stamp sets, we are having a storm so I don't want to be on the computer too long.

Added since post: Cathy Hewlett was so kind to comment and let me know she is pretty sure Fiji is a White Brahma and after googling that, I do believe she is right...thanks Cathy!!!

I found this:

Have a blessed Sunday and thanks for stopping in.

FLICKs for June - Better Late Then Never

031 copy

With convention being a week later this year, and then me getting sick once I got back home I didn't get my FLICKs cards for June done till the other day.  To read more about what FLICKs are, here is an old post to check it out. That is one of the perks my direct downline girls can earn.  I asked them if they wanted me to keep doing them or change it this year, and they said no, they like em, so there ya have it. It musn't be a bad thing.

So I swapped with Mary Ellen Byler at convention, she is part of Robin Merriman's GoDiva girls, that I am honored to be a part of, and I loved her card, and was gonna case it and then realized oopsee I needed more Wisteria Wonder cardstock...I knew I had plenty of Pool Party since that is my favorite new color, I had run out before during the pre-order time when we can only get so many packages, and that won't happen again.  So I changed it up a bit.  Then I saw that Kristin Kortonik had did a card from Mary Ellen's swap too, so I added the little bee on there, and then I just love me some Teneale Williams, so I had to add some of the French Foliage set on there too, so really it's like all us 4 stampers into one.  I loved these colors together and well what do you think? I hope the girls like it when they open their packages.

030 copy
Stamp Set: Field Flowers, French Foliage, Nature Walk

Paper: Concord Crush, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Very Vanilla

Ink: Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Concord Crush, Wisteria Wonder

Misc: Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon, mini brad, oval punch, oval scallop punch, framed tulip embossing folder, stamp a ma jig

I just love how it turned out.

032 copy
I love the new ruffled ribbon, I just scrunched it up a bit more.

I have ribbon shares going on, so make sure you let me know if you are wanting information on those. If you get my email newsletter that announcement went out yesterday.  If you don't get my email newsletter, you can sign up for it over on the left hand column where it says Sign up for my email newsletter.

Also don't forget about my Country Dozen Rewards, with every $40.00 before tax and shipping you order through my store, you will earn an "egg". Once you have earned a Dozen"eggs" you get a free stamp set, your choice. Make sure you order through that link.  If you go to Stampin' Up! and then choose me as your Demonstrator it is a bit different by doing it that way. For instance if you order $150.00 through my store (before tax and shipping) you will earn hostess benefits. If you go to Stampin' Up! and just pick me, you won't get the hostess benefits.  So the easiest way to do it is go through my blog and use the link.  It's that simple!

Well I better go clean up the supper dishes, Jeff is making Fiji a new pen and I took pictures of her and will show you tomorrow, her feet are sure getting furry...ummm...feathery.

Have an awesome Saturday and thanks for stopping in.

The Help

024 copy

At convention there are so many emotions going on, there is excitement, anticipation, nervousness, sleeplessness, happiness, and yes even sadness.  This year my BFF Tracy did not go to Convention and so it felt weird not having her there.  She was sad in PA not being there, and I was sad in UT not having her there.  One night after our extra class that Kristen and I did, we were the only ones from our group that got into it.  The rest of our group that didn't get into it went to the mall and stuff, so when I got back to my room after carrying all the stuff we got my arms were killing me.  I stuck my head in Lynda & Jacque's room and they were all sitting in the dark watching the Workshop WOW DVD on someone's laptop.  Well I knew I wouldn't be able to hear it, so I told them to let me know when they were done.

Well then I did a bad thing alone in my room...hey get your mind out of the gutter!!! I got my jammies on and turned on the TV, and 20/20 or something was on and they were talking about the book "The Help" and OMG! I watched some of the interviews and I sat there sobbing, I mean ugly crying where tears were streaming down my face and I was making noises when I cried.  I am sure a lot of it was being tired but I know most of it was not having my BFF there with me, cause we are pretty much inseparable when we are together, so I was missing her cause she would have been there to hug, and dang it, I probably wouldn't have had the danged old TV on anyway...ha!  So anyway, I just had to share that, cause really the friendships I have made since joining Stampin' Up! are priceless, NOT tearless, but definitely priceless.

If you want to come to convention next year and bawl like a baby with me, then you definitely don't want to miss the $99.00 starter kit special.  I would love to have you join my team.  I've got girls all over the US, and they are the best too! Come on, I'll bring the kleenex!

So today I felt almost human (I am still coughing as if I was a smoker, I have lots of rattling going on and that has never happened to me in all my...well...over 40 + years).  I should maybe get some mucinex or something.

I got my FLICKs cards done and I will show you that tomorrow or so.  I was late on them cause of convention and then being sick but they will go out in the mail tomorrow.

Then my window pane was screaming to be done.  I did shabby paint it up the other day, I think I told you that, if not...I just did.

So I put some of the Beau Chateau DSP in the back of the window panes.

020 copy
Jeff added some chain to it (the same chain he used on my chandelier) and hung it on a stud...he says he is the stud, but he also found one in the wall. This way I can take it down and change out the papers once in a while, like I will put Christmas paper in it for Valentines...ha! just kidding, I was just seeing if you were reading or just looking.

027 copy
Then I added some cards for display...cute eh?  I have them stuck on with removable tape but I also put a little clothespin on them so it looks like the clothespin is holding the card on.  I also made a little banner.

025 copy
It needed something in the corner, I just used the new Pennant punch and decorated it simple like with some pearls, and flowers, and buttons. It is held on with the mini clothepins too. I used the Beau Chateau paper for the pennants too.

026 copy
I found a cute saying in one of the Hostess sets "Faith in Nature" and I just used part of it so the banner reads "beautiful things".  I think it turned out adorable.  Even Jeff really liked it.

Added since original post:

*some of the cards on the window pane I have posted on my blog already and some I have not as they were swaps, and I certainly can.

*I am reading "The Help" on my Nook and love it and can't put it down, but I have to as I have lots of work to catch up on.

*No worries (but I am loving your sweet comments), I got plenty of hugs when Marlene came back to our room and she brought Rhonda, and they noticed my red eyes and they hugged this old blubber butt good.

*oh and the BFF, she has already told me she won't be missing another Convention.

Well I better say nightie night and clean up my room.

Tomorrow I need to get cracking on Fall Fest stuff, we are sold out! I am so excited!!!

Have an awesome Friday and thanks for stopping in!

July Thank You Cards - Hot Off The Presses

024 copy

Press...Iron...Get it?  Ok sometimes my blog titles are good, sometimes not so good...ha!

Today was another not getting anything done day, but my sore throat is all gone, and I am feeling on the mend, thanks so much for all the well wishes.

I wanted to show the card I sent out for my July online order thank you's, can you tell I love this set? It is very similar to the Mimeograph Monday card, just changed a little bit.  Once I figured out (thanks to all the tips) how to fix my bobbin, I did not too bad on the sewing part and will definitely sew more on my cards, I am not super straight but that should get better.  I even picked up the cutest little stool that is just the right height for when I am sewing and also the perfect height to slide under my cutting station counter so it is out of the way when I am not using it. If you have not seen my revamped studio, you can check it out at this post, as well as I have a gallery on the left hand side that shows it...I am a little proud of it I guess. I sure do love spending time in here.

022 copy

Stamp Set: House & Home, Tiny Tags

Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Domestic Goddess DSP

Ink: Poppy Parade, Basic Black Marker

Misc: White Bakers Twine, Sewing machine, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder, jewelry tag punch

So we are almost filled to capacity for our upcoming Fall Fest in August and I am excited to see everyone, there are a bunch of new people coming and I can't wait to meet everyone.

I have to be thinking of my Founder's Circle swap, I need to get that designed and get everything ordered.  I will be at my little sister's wedding right before Founder's so all that has to be done ahead of time.

Well I better hit the hay and get another good night's sleep, it seems to be helping.

Have an awesome Thursday and thanks for stopping in.

Not Snow Much Fun...

020 copy

...to have the crud.  Ha! I guess a few other Demonstrators came home from convention with a cold or whatever and I was one of them.  Today I went to the store grabbed some cold medicine and some more cough drops and came home and went to bed, I have been go-go-going since I got back from convention and maybe that was not the best thing. Toby loves when I nap during the day, he is a good spooner, or snuggler.

So I didn't get any work done today, but I do feel a bit better tonight, still stuffed up, but no aches or anything, so I am sure it is just a cold, a summer one in Arizona, no less, not fun...but hey, it waited till I got back and that I am thankful for.

At convention we swap with such amazing demonstrators and the reasoning behind it is to come back with awesome ideas for our businesses but more important I feel it is to get to meet people, I always try to thank the person and look at them when I swap as my mind is horrible but I want to try to remember every face I have swapped with.

This is one of the cards we did at stamp club this weekend and I got a swap from Judi Cayton (thanks Judi - you were so sweet to swap with me!) and I love love love it.  I used the crochet trim ribbon only cause I didn't have enough of the Baja Breeze seam binding that she used on hers, but the card is basically hers.  I also used watercolor paper for my image cause that is my favorite "go-to" paper for watercoloring. Speaking of watercoloring, I want to thank all of you that have purchased my PDF in how to watercolor, I appreciate it so much and I love hearing back from you that you find it easy to follow. Mwah!!

I was trying to get the camera to pick up the dazzling diamonds sparkle.

Tonight for supper I wanted to try something fun and different and quick.  I had picked up some mozarella at the store the other day, it was in a ball, and I wanted to make a tomato, basil, mozarella thing that I have seen on tv or in restaurants, so I googled and it came up caprese salad, but then when I looked better I saw where you could make it into a sandwich so I did, and it was so good.  I just buttered some sour dough bread sprinkled on some rosemary and cooked it on a cookie sheet in a 400 degree oven for about 5 minutes, then took it out and put chopped fresh basil and sliced tomatoes on half of the slices of bread, and the slices of mozarella went on the other halves.  I also sprinkled some olive oil over the tomatoes.  Then they went back in the oven for about ten minutes.  Then I took it, out let them cool a bit, then you just put them together like a sandwich, the cheese side goes together with the tomato side.  I cut them in half and voila' , I felt like a chef.  Jeff and Eric really liked them too, so I will definitely be making it again.

Well as much as I would like to chat it up some more, I am going to hit the hay.

Have an awesome Wednesday and thanks so much for stopping in to see me each day, I hope you know how much it means to me that you do!
