Keeping the Draft Out...

...ok well there is not much of a draft in Arizona (except those haboobs, and monsoons), but we do have critters.  The other day when I was shopping I saw a door snake or something like that, and I thought well I can make that, I am not much of a seamstress but it didn't look too hard to sew up a tube and stuff it with batting, plus I knew I had some cute Stampin' Up! fabric.

My studio screen door does not meet the threshold I guess you woud call it, so there is a big gap...

...I usually lay a blanket down when I have the door open (I like to take advantage of the nice weather when we have it, and before it gets too hot) to keep any critters that might decide to make themselves at home and come on in.  Toby loves the blanket, cause he will lay on it and look out the door, but it really is a pain in the butt to wash it each time, so today I whipped this up.

It is not super fancy, and my sewing is not that good.  I still want to finish it, I want to add some of the big buttons that went with this fabric, but I broke my needle that had the big hole in it, cause I was sewing the end and the buttons on with the bakers twine, so I gotta go get a new needle.

I also said I would show you the trees Jeff planted the other day.

He bought 5 Chinese Elm trees, we want them to fill in and have shade along the walk way he made last summer.

Looks neat eh?  I think he'll let them grow a year and then decide if he wants to add any kind of hanging flowers along the base of the pot.  I kinda like the clean look though.

Well it's a quick post for me tonight. I'm headed to bed.

Have an awesome Monday and thanks for stopping in.

I don't know where today went, I just realized it is almost 11:30pm. What?  OMG! I got to get to bed. I have club tomorrow so was working on stuff for that.

Remember I said my pointer finger hurts if I stretch out my arm? Like the tendon or the vein is being pulled, well now the left side of my finger is numb so I had to put a band aid on it, cause since I can't feel it, I have hurt it a bit, I press it too tight on stuff I guess, kinda like you go to the dentist and they numb you up and then tell you to be careful when you eat cause you could chew right through your cheek and not know it.  Looks like I need to call the Doc on Monday.

Here is one of the cards the girls will do tomorrow and the long distance girls will get theirs finished in with their order.

I cased my very talented friend Ilina Crouse.  I changed it just slightly by using watercolor paper, and adding the crochet trim ribbon and the jewelry tag and vintage trinket. Thanks Ilina for sharing your amazing talent.

Maybe it will help me survive the longgggggggggggg wait for Breaking Dawn Part Two. Probably not but Melissa and I are all set to go see it...right girlfriend?

I remember watching it years ago on tv...Ok so I just googled it and the original was 1966, so I was one, probably not watching much tv at that age. So it must be I watched them being replayed or when they did the remake for tv? Looks like Tim Burton has put his usual spin on it though.   I would love to be in one of his movies with the wild costumes and makeup, although I do believe I used to wear the same glasses as Helena Bonham Carter is wearing in the movie...you know the ones the size of a small windshield, (a little side joke to my sweet friend Sharon, who also wore them).

So I better get my butt in bed.

Have an awesome Saturday and thanks for stopping in.

Don't read any further if you have not seen the results of American Idol.

Real quick post tonight.  I gotta get to bed. I had a party tonight, and missed American Idol, I watched it online and was really amazed that Heejun is still on and Erika was kicked off, I am also surprised the judges didn't use their save, will be interesting to see who they use it on.  I am sure Erika will get picked up right away, she is too talented.  I feel bad she cut her hair, maybe that was her good luck charm. Thank goodness for extensions.

I wanted to show you another make n take from Spring Fling, this uses the beautiful Designer Cuts. This card angle looks so weird.

011 copy
I sure am going to miss this DSP when Sale-a-Bration is over, how about you?

I also took some pictures of my finished pantry/laundry room.  Everyone seemed to be impressed who saw it tonight. I love it...now to keep it this organized.

I love the jars, now I can see what and how much I have of everything.  I cut our chalkboard vinyl that comes on the roll using my Big Shot and then I wrote with a chalk marker, this way when I run out of an item and want to use the jar for something else, I can wash it off and write something else. Neat-o.

009 copy
Toby's treats are not in a glass jar, I made sure I could see through the lid though.  I don't want him seeing his treats, it is enough he knows this is his jar, but if he could see the treats too, forget about it! He'd be crying sitting there staring at them the whole time.

OK, I gotta get to bed.

Have an awesome Friday and thanks for stopping in.

My Favorite Find

026 copy

I forgot I didn't show you all the Spring Fling make n takes.  This one was inspired by my sweet friend Kim Sinclair, you might remember my fun posts from the Alaska cruise when our hubbies and us hung out.  She gave me the cutest box at Leadership so when we were having the girls use the black bauble on their aluminum stake, it comes in this little box, well I figured we can't just let them take home a plain old box right? So we had them decorate it.  They each got the S.W.A.K. stamp for attending so that made it even more fun.

025 copy
I'll have to look back to see if I have shown everything or not. I think I've still got class cards to show from my last 10/10/20 class too.  If I was smart I would sit down and write a whole bunch of posts at one time.  But I like to do it at night like a journal, unless I am going to be away and then I will do a bunch and set them to post.

The other day I was looking around and I found this fun site, for shabby antique hunters like myself it is fun, it reminds me a little of pinterest.  It is called My Favorite Find.  Maybe you'll find something you've been looking for.

So I have my pantry and laundry shelf almost done, I will take a picture tomorrow and post it.  I was watching American Idol or I would have gotten it done tonight.

So here is my two cents...for whatever it's worth...oh so if you have taped it and have not watched it yet, you may want to not read this...can't say I didn't warn ya.

So tonight the Idols sang Billy Idol (OMG! Thanks Tandra, you caught me...what a dork I am...it was Bily Joel songs!!! Ha! ) songs and Tommy Hilfiger is going to be helping the Idols with their fashion and I guess figuring out who they wanna be.

First up:

Deandre: OMG! Tommy had to mention his hair so he was flinging it all night long as he danced all over the stage. I did not like the song. Bottom 3

Erika: Holy Moly Batman, did we change the channel and Pat Benatar is singing?  I guessed she would have dark hair (they teased us at the beginning and didn't show her), but wow, my vote is still out on the shortness of it, and it was sure slicked back, I think I would have left it longer and shaggier, and I would have the ends be wild color, like before, I love the black though.  Jeff would kill me if I cut my hair short like that. He likes my hair long...not like he plays with it, but that is his preferance. She sounded pretty good.

Joshua:  He seemed pitchy at first and then he finally got into it.

Skylar: the screamer...blech.  Her outfit was horrible and so was the song.  Bottom 3

Elise: When she was practicing it looked like she had a dead cat on her head.  She sounded amazing, with a bit of Adele kinda thrown in there. Loved it!

Phillip: Loved how he stuck with he is who he is. Tommy said don't wear gray, and Jimmy and Diddy said don't use guitar. He wore gray and played the guitar.  Yay! Philip!

Hollie:  She had a few odd notes tonight, it was not as good as other times. They did not dress her younger and what was up with making her stand on that platform the whole time, that is probably why she didn't sing that good, I think she was afraid of breaking her neck.

Heejun: What a goofball.  I still say Big Bang Theory need to snag this guy cause he'll probably be voted off soon. He was pitchy but at least he sang louder. Bottom 3

Jessica: I did not know the song, and she sang amazing. It looked like she had no shoes on but that she was on her tippy toes.  She was the #1 girl tonight.

Colton: Wearing his Interview with a Vampire kinda coat. He did amazing!! I am so glad he mentioned God.  I guess the producers of American Idol or someone was telling him to tone down his religion. I say they need to stay true to who they are and what they believe in and it will make them stronger as people, performers, and everything that comes with success. He was the #1 guy tonight.

I voted for: Erika, Elise, Jessica, Colton

I have a party tomorrow so I will have to keep taking pee breaks to go see what is going on, since we don't have a tape machine.

Here's a few tidbits more of my opinion.

P Diddy, Puff Daddy, Mo Diddy, Diddy Daddy, Dumbledore Diddy...so they are asking this guys opinion on helping the Idols decide who they wanna be, and this guy has had more names than Prince.

Tommy Hillfiger, they are asking this guy for fashion tips, and almost to the end of the show there was a Macy's ad for his clothes, and it was a guy wearing a seer sucker coat and a pair of shorts that looked like my Granny's patchwork quilt. Are you kidding me? If I went to the store in something like that, they'd call for a straight jacket...hopefully it wouldn't clash! Ha!

Well there ya have it, what did you think about tonight? Don't be shy!

Have an awesome Thursday and thanks for stopping in.
